An economically important parasitic disease of ostriches caused by the nematode Libyostrongylus douglassi. The parasite inhabits the glandular portion of the proventriculus causing severe pathological changes, proventricular impaction, anemia, digestive disturbances, and high mortality particularly in young ostrich chicks.
