Dosages

Cattle

  • Initial dose: 25 mg/lb (55 mg/kg or 1 mL per 16 lb) IV on Day 1; Maintenance dose: 12.5 mg/lb (27.5 mg/kg or 1 mL per 32 lb) IV daily on Days 2-5 (Intravenous (IV)) — 3 to 5 consecutive days

Dog

  • Initial dose: 25 mg/lb (55 mg/kg) IV or SC on Day 1; Maintenance: 12.5 mg/lb (27.5 mg/kg) daily (Intravenous (IV) or Subcutaneous (SC)) — 3 to 5 days

Cat

  • Initial dose: 25 mg/lb (55 mg/kg) IV or SC on Day 1; Maintenance: 12.5 mg/lb (27.5 mg/kg) daily (Intravenous (IV) or Subcutaneous (SC)) — 3 to 5 days

Horse

  • Initial dose: 25 mg/lb (55 mg/kg) IV slowly on Day 1; Maintenance: 12.5 mg/lb (27.5 mg/kg) daily (Intravenous (IV)) — 3 to 5 days
Withdrawal Periods

Cattle

Meat: 5 days Milk: 60 days
Indications
  • Treatment of shipping fever complex, bacterial pneumonia, foot rot, and calf diphtheria in cattle.
  • Treatment of respiratory, genitourinary, enteric, and wound infections in dogs and cats.
  • Treatment of respiratory infections in horses associated with Streptococcus equi.
Contraindications
  • Do not use in animals with history of sulfonamide hypersensitivity or severe renal damage.
Precautions
  • Intravenous injection in cattle and horses must be given slowly. Ensure adequate animal hydration.
Side Effects
  • Rare hypersensitivity reactions; temporary pain at SC injection sites.
