Indications
In cattle: treatment of acute clinical mastitis in lactating cows caused by Staphylococcus aureus strains sensitive to spiramycin; treatment of respiratory infections caused by Pasteurella multocida and Mannheimia haemolytica.
Contraindications
Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to spiramycin or any of the excipients.
Precautions
Use should be based on susceptibility testing of bacteria isolated from the animal, or on local, regional or farm-level epidemiological susceptibility information when testing is not possible. Do not administer more than 15 mL per injection site. In acute S. aureus mastitis, only cases with clinical signs for less than 24 hours should be treated. Use in male breeding animals should be based on a benefit-risk assessment because safety has not been established.
Side Effects
Macroscopic lesions at the injection site may occur in cattle and may still be present 42 days after injection. Hypersalivation may occur approximately 3 hours after treatment.
