Storage Conditions Store in the dark at 2° to 7°C (35° to 45°F). Avoid freezing. Shake vigorously to assure uniform suspension of the vaccine.
Dosages

Horse

  • Pregnant mares: Aseptically administer one 2-mL dose intramuscularly deep into the heavy muscles of the hindquarter during the 5th, 7th, and 9th months of each pregnancy. (Intramuscular) — During 5th, 7th, 9th months of gestation
  • Young horses (respiratory prevention): Aseptically administer one 2-mL dose IM after weaning, followed by a second 2-mL dose 3-4 weeks later. Revaccinate with a single 2-mL dose 6 months after the second dose and annually thereafter. (Intramuscular) — 2 primary doses then annually

Indications
  • Aids in the prevention of abortion due to equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) infections in pregnant mares.
  • Aids in the prevention of respiratory infections caused by EHV-1p and EHV-1b strains in horses.
Contraindications —
Precautions
  • Store in the dark at 2° to 7°C (35° to 45°F). Avoid freezing. Shake vigorously to assure uniform suspension.
  • Use entire contents when first opened. Mild exercise to promote absorption is recommended for one week after injection.
  • In case of anaphylactoid reaction, administer epinephrine immediately.
Side Effects
  • Local or systemic reactions rarely occur. An occasional local swelling or induration at the site of injection may be encountered.
