Dopram-V (doxapram hydrochloride 20 mg/mL) is a potent respiratory stimulant that acts directly on peripheral carotid chemoreceptors and central medullary respiratory centers to increase tidal volume and respiratory rate. Indicated for dogs, cats, and horses to stimulate respiration during or after general anesthesia, hasten recovery, reduce post-anesthetic depression, and initiate respiration in neonates following dystocia or cesarean section.

Indications

Stimulate respiration during and after general anesthesia in dogs, cats, and horses.

Contraindications

Do not use in animals with convulsive disorders, cardiac arrhythmias, or severe mechanical respiratory obstruction.
Precautions

Ensure patent airway before injection. Overdose may cause hyperventilation, tachycardia, muscle tremors, or convulsions.
Side Effects

Hypertension, arrhythmias, muscle twitching, or hyperactive reflexes at high doses.
