Indications
Treatment of urinary incontinence caused by urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence in ovariohysterectomised female dogs.
Contraindications
Do not use in dogs with glaucoma. Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to ephedrine hydrochloride or any of the excipients.
Precautions
Do not use in dogs under 20 kg bodyweight. Use with caution in dogs with cardiovascular disease and after a benefit-risk assessment; assess and periodically monitor cardiovascular function. Apply similar caution in animals with partial urethral obstruction, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperadrenocorticism, hyperthyroidism or other metabolic disorders.
Side Effects
Cardiovascular effects including tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, increased cardiac stimulation and vasoconstriction; central nervous system stimulation including insomnia, excitation, anxiety and muscle tremors; panting; mydriasis; cystitis; bronchodilatation with decreased mucus release; reduced intestinal motility and tone. Anxiety and cardiovascular effects are the most prevalent. Vomiting has been reported very rarely.
