Staphylococcosis

Staphylococcosis is a bacterial disease of poultry caused mainly by Staphylococcus aureus. It occurs as systemic infections including septicemia and gangrenous dermatitis, or localized infections such as arthritis, tenosynovitis, osteomyelitis, and omphalitis. Economic losses result from decreased weight gain, mortality, carcass condemnation, and there is a potential risk for human food poisoning.
