Dosages

Dog

  • 2.75 to 5.5 mg marbofloxacin/kg body weight once daily (Oral (PO)) — Once daily for 7 to 30 days depending on infection site and response

Cat

  • 2.75 to 5.5 mg marbofloxacin/kg body weight once daily (Oral (PO)) — Once daily for up to 30 days
Withdrawal Periods —
Indications
  • Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections (wounds, abscesses, cellulitis) in dogs and cats caused by susceptible bacteria.
  • Treatment of urinary tract infections (cystitis) in dogs caused by susceptible strains of E. coli and Proteus mirabilis.
Contraindications
  • Do not use in immature, growing dogs (less than 12-18 months) due to potential cartilage erosion in weight-bearing joints.
  • Do not exceed recommended dose in cats due to risk of fluoroquinolone-induced retinopathy.
Precautions
  • Use with caution in animals with known Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders or epilepsy.
  • Ensure adequate hydration during treatment.
Side Effects
  • Mild gastrointestinal upset (decreased appetite, vomiting, soft stools); rare neurotoxicity or lethargy.
